image I hope the summer finds all of you well and enjoying the warmth and family. It is nice to be done with the cold.

I have, from time to time, written about retirement issues. It has been a while since I talked about Social Security and how being in law enforcement impacts your Social Security benefit.

Most of us do not (did not if retired) pay in to Social Security through our law enforcement career. However, most of us worked at a job before our law enforcement career where we did pay into Social Security. A lot of us also worked off-duty jobs that we likewise paid Social Security taxes. As a result, we expect to receive a Social Security benefit when we retire.

Hello to all my brothers and sisters in law enforcement! I hope that you and your families all are safe and healthy! Here are a few RTC updates for you:

Rockets baseball: We are just starting our 10th year in the local little league. Coach John O’Brien has our boys as prepared as possible. As you probably know, most of our boys have never played any organized baseball (or any sports for that matter), so this is a wonderful experience for them in so many ways. At this point of the season, we are 0-3 but we are fairly competitive and continue to display good sportsmanship, regardless of winning or losing the game!
