Good Friday morning to you!

Is the media biased? Unfortunately, a growing number of people think so. And, unfortunately, a growing number of people may be right. If we are being honest, we are all biased to some degree, and editors and journalists are no different. But rather than promoting local news, many media outlets are promoting their agendas, typically driven by the out-of-state corporations that own them. We think that is truly unfortunate. But, of course, our opinion on the subject of local ownership is also biased, because we are locally owned among a sea of newspapers, TV stations, radio stations, social media sites and other news outlets that are not. Be ready for more that are on their way here. Our advice on interpreting news is the same advice we offer on buying or accepting anything. Be careful. Be cautious. And consider the source. Does that media outlet have you and your community’s best interests in mind, or are they out-of-staters simply trying to make another buck? All media should be questioned and held accountable, and that includes us. Meanwhile, we appreciate your readership and the opportunity to serve you.

Now have a great Friday!
