Welcome to another Friday mailbag… only on Monday since I forgot to do this on Friday. Here are some of the comments, questions and ideas that were sent recently by several of you.
Shane, I caught your column on Mrs. Kalar (Substitute teachers, Feb. 10, 2022). Most students from her early years of teaching could probably write a host of books about all the marvelous lessons, poems, stories and life's nuggets she taught … But one of those nuggets I still giggle at … was a question worthy of ‘Jeopardy’: all of her students had to know the difference between a Hereford and an heifer. - RWP
Thank you for the memories of Mrs. Kalar and for stressing the importance of substitute teachers in this world. – Shane
“Boy, oh boy, did you hit my hot button with this one (Tupperware, Feb. 18, 2022). We all have that cupboard that explodes with lids and containers all over the floor. Some days I feel like I’m playing a game of Whack A Mole with no success. Once a year, I do the purge and match all containers with lids. The rest go bye bye. Everything you said is my house. Right down to the 2oz container for salad dressing or some other condiment. Great job on this one.” - Mark
Thanks, Mark. Who would have guessed that Earl Tupper could have created such a mess? – Shane
“Wow!!! How did you know the content of my cupboard? (Tupperware, Feb. 18, 2022). Your recital of the realities of Tupperware inspired laughter and tears. Ok, I laughed until I cried, but now I know what my problem is, I have tons of non Tupperware containers that do not stack well at all. Thanks.” – Donna
Don’t forget to burp them. – Shane
“Could you say it was “re re run run, a re re run”? Stuff happens. Happy Friday.” - Dewayne
Yes, it does, Dewayne. Thanks for the reminder and the catch on my Shaun Cassidy column running again (by accident) on Friday. – Shane
“Your riddle book of answer is in err (Loose Cannon morning chuckle, Feb. 18, 2022). A Cannon is either: an oldies TV Show “Cannon” (1971–1976); or a horny, oversexed tv/movie personality; or in military usage, a gun is a cannon with a high muzzle velocity and a flat trajectory… Canon is the brand of camera you were reaching for.” - Rex
You are correct, Rex, and we appreciate the correction. Now I hope we don’t misuse “Baretta.” - Shane
Have a marvelous Monday, and thanks for reading.
