“A good pair of scissors from the Cutco knife people became a staple in our kitchen and a second pair in my tool box for all the reasons you outlined (Tough to Open, May 2, 2022).” - Chuck
Good point, Chuck, except for the plastic wrap in the kitchen. I would simply end up with a scissors wrapped in plastic. - Shane
“Nice Lone Ranger outfit (Masks, April 28, 2022)! Do you have a wardrobe department? Or do you own all these outfits?” - Richard
It’s all about the accessories. - Shane
“I suffered from reference-envy at a young age (Encyclopedias, April 26, 2022). My more well-heeled classmate-neighbors did their research at home using their World Book or Britannica volumes. The less fortunate toiled along with Collier’s — the American Motors of the Big 3 encyclopedia publishers. So, at the age of 11, I took it upon myself to raise my family’s community standing and future prospects by entering into an agreement to purchase a set of World Books using my paper route profits. Receiving one volume each month meant that I had time between deliveries to read and absorb much of what was between the covers before the next delivery, preparing me for a life-long winning streak at Trivial Pursuit. I have never regretted parting with that $20 each month.” - Bruce
Who knew reference envy was a thing? Thanks, Bruce. - Shane
“After reading today’s BGU post (Encyclopedias, April 26, 2022), I would like to offer another option for encyclopedias. If you are the type of person who still enjoys having resources in paper form and close at hand, you can find some sets at used book stores. Yes, they are usually a little older and used, but they are available.” - Tracy
Older and used. Sounds more and more like me. Thanks, Tracy. - Shane
Have a fantastic Friday, and thanks for reading.
